Evolution (Thought #10)

I haven't written in FOREVER, sorry. I got caught up in a lot of things in my life (yes I have one, surprisingly so).

Well, right to the point.

Our fears: they're what push us forward in life. Along with our wishes: but in the end, aren't our goals set in order to avoid our fears? For example: you want to write a book that will be huge, make you rich and famous. But isn't that simply to escape the void of the shadows and poverty? Isn't that because you want recognition instead of having people constantly underestimating you?

Now let's analyze our fears. Our fears are completely based on our fear of the unknown. Take any phobia, and you will find that it is all about the unknown. And, what do we do when we're afraid? Okay, we cower. But other than that, we may cover it up with a nervous laugh, a joke, or even icy stoicism. That is why we are a little ashamed to admit that we're a little bit intrigued by the spiritual world. "Demons? Balderdash. Afterlife? Psh. Spirits? Nah. Anything that could possibly throw off our sense of logic and defy the laws of physics? Never!" Now I am NOT talking about religion. I don't really believe in all that. I'm talking about spirituality. Now that, is an eventuality.

And here comes in the topic of psychics. They're infamous, and we ignore them, or, worse, shun them, or, even worse, "we believe in what they say." And by that I mean most believe that people who go to psychics are complete lunatics. But aren't they, too, trying to avoid their fears? Attempting to go to someone who could reassure them, relieve them of their doubts? Aren't they trying to get a glimpse of the future, to shine light in a realm where they only see shadows? Yes, they're just like you and I. Now let's see it from the perspective of those people with special abilities. First of all, they're kind of everywhere. Although you may not want to admit it, you obviously know at least one person that can do weird things, feel things you can't, have premonitions. Or better yet, you're like that. It's fine.

But. We don't really pay attentions to those abilities, but what if they were the omen of what is to come? A mirror of our fears? The key to evolution? What if the human beings that evolved into a new species were the ones who are "psychic," per se, the ones we're—afraid of? What if that was the reason we're afraid of them? Knowing that they will someday surpass us, be capable of things far beyond our primitive perceptions? Telekinesis, foresight, telepathy, bilocation... all those things clearly impossible according to the laws of physics might be possible to some people. So all those theories on evolution may be thwarted by the fact that they constantly follow science. But there has to be some intuition used there, and isn't that just something else we can't explain: intuition. How we can feel things before they happen, sense danger, read into people feelings before they talk. Some people call it survival skills, but I think there's more to it.

So what do you think? Is the next human species going to be a physically and intellectually different being or is it going to have an evolved version of our small "out of the ordinary" abilities?

What's next?
